ABOUT Region 9 - American Iris Society

Region 9 is comprised of the entire state of Illinois.

 

We have 4 local affiliates:

Southern Illinois Iris Society, Mid Illinois Iris Society, Sangamon Valley Iris Society and Northern Illinois Iris Society.

The Purpose of the American Iris Society, and Region 9:

 

  • shall be to develop the science of horticulture and any activities related to the study, propagation and culture of the genus Iris

  • to stimulate and foster interest in horticultural pursuits, conservation and protection of these plants

  • to cooperate with other organizations, both public and private, in the scientific and horticultural education of all those interested in learning any phase of the genus Iris

  • by any and all means which may be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors

  • education of the public through exhibitions, public display gardens, published standards for judging and local area, regional and national meetings open to the public.

To join a local iris society or for more information about local shows and events, please refer to our Affiliated page.  We welcome visitors at our meetings, so see the day and location of a meeting and join us!  If  you have questions, contact the local society near you or visit a meeting as part of your travels.
